1 august 2022
This August 2022 our warehouse keeper, Christian, will take a well-deserved retirement. The whole Buedemleër team thanks him for all these years of collaboration and wishes him a good and pleasant retirement.
Employed as a floor layer and blinds fitter from November 2001 to March 2013, he had to go through external reclassification due to knee problems, but Ben Jungers asked him to return to the team in July 2016.
Christian’s return was to the position of warehouseman, a new position created as a result of the company’s increased headcount. We needed someone who had a lot of experience in our business, our philosophy, our procedures and the products used.
“Christian, what do you remember about your time at de Buedemleër?”
“My first memory goes back to the job interview. Of course, I brought copies of my diplomas and qualifications with me. But when I wanted to show them, I was told: “We’re not really interested in diplomas, it’s your performance in the field that allows us to judge”.
An attitude which marked Christian and which he appreciated and which we still practice today.
“You don’t stay 17 years in a company where you don’t like it, it’s a true family business, where employees are not numbers, but are treated with respect and management is always listening and open to discussions.”
“One of the fondest memories of my professional life was when Ben called me back in 2016 to ask me to come back to the company as a warehouse worker (after my external reclassification I had struggled to find work).”
And now, what are your plans?
“To live my role as a grandpa to the fullest and to renovate a small house in the south of France to spend my retirement there when my wife is also retired.”
Ben & Martine, how do you feel about Christian’s retirement?
“It is certain that a page will be turned, it is not nothing to work with a person for 17 years! We will miss Christian’s good humor, know-how and ability to help others, but even in retirement he will continue to be part of the Buedemleër family.”
“We will have the opportunity to see him again for the parties we organize every year for Christmas and the beginning of our summer vacations where the whole team, including the retirees, get together for convivial moments.”
“Creating a good relational climate between team members is very important at our company. That’s why, in addition to respectful day-to-day management of relationships between employees, we hold theme days such as fun outings, training courses and company visits several times a year.”
Thank you and happy retirement Christian!
