True to the ecological and environmental values that are part of the DNA of our company and our employees, we support the Nationalen Dag vum Bam and the Rainforest association. We are publishing this article to try to raise awareness of a cause that concerns us all; reforestation, and we hope that some of you will want to join one of these associations or participate in their efforts.
The Nationalen Dag vum Bam was introduced in Luxembourg in 1992 under the official name of “National Tree Day”. It is organized every year at the beginning of November and was placed under the patronage of Grand Duke Jean from 1997 until his death in 2019.
It is a ceremony, which takes place in a different municipality each year, during which a tree is planted in a specially arranged area.
You can also participate in the next edition of the National Dag vum Bam as a member or as a volunteer, but also make a donation to the association
Natur&ëmwelt which organizes this event.
Natur&ëmwelt organizes several nature and environmental events throughout the year. It also proposes on its website an interesting and varied educational offer, which addresses the youngest as well as the oldest.
For the 2021 edition, we planted a quince tree on the company’s grounds. With a little luck, we will be able to make quince jelly in a few years.
This plantation completes the reorganization of our green space. A space, which with a flowering lawn with late mowing, plants and shrubs, presents a small oasis for insects and bees in our industrial park.
Because the protection of nature and reforestation is a universal concern that goes far beyond our borders, we also support another Luxembourg association: Rainforest.
Rainforest’s website does not beat about the bush and puts you directly in front of a reality: every citizen of Luxembourg emits 1.5 tons of CO2 for every 10,000 km driven in his car (for an average-sized vehicle).
Rainforest’s solution to offset these emissions is simple: plant trees. A planted tree will accumulate on average 500 kg of CO2 during its growth. So get out your calculator and find out how many trees you need to fund with Rainfosrest to offset your emissions.
Rainforest – 2021 donation certificate
To show our support for Rainforest since 2016, we have decided not to give end-of-year gifts anymore but to invest the amount of these gifts in the reforestation program in Costa Rica that Rainforest leads in participation with the University of Vienna.
